Facilities

The Department of Design, a home for most of the FaTe studies is located inside the Väre building of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Otaniemi, in the eastern part of Espoo 20 minutes away from the city center of Helsinki. It’s a multifunctional space consisting of showrooms, offices, restaurants, classrooms and workshops.

Career Design Lab

Career Design Lab provides research-based, creative services and collaborates with the Aalto University community and partners. They support Aalto students and alumni in career design, collaborate with alumni and organizations, connect employers with Aalto talent and help all lifewide learners prepare for the future of work.

Learning Centre and Library

The Learning Centre offers library services, expert services and study and works spaces. The library serves students and university staff as well as customers from outside the university. In addition to book collections, the campus libraries provide facilities for studying and guidance services for information searches.

Student Organisations

Aalto University Student Union — AYY

Aalto University Student Union (AYY) is a 15 000 members strong student organization. AYY is a self-governing community subject to public law and its status is defined in the Finnish student union act.

The Aalto University Student Union (AYY) service point is located in Arabia. The AYY service point handles, for example, student card matters and provides a place to buy and sell used course books.

TOKYO

TOKYO is a student organisation inside the Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture. TOKYO supports the goals of the students by taking an active role in public discourse in and out of Aalto University.

NuDe

NuDe or Nuoret Designerit (“young designers”) is the student organisation of the department of Design which organises events, seminars, parties and excursions (like the annual Stockholm Furniture Fair excursion in February).

Printing and Graphic Services

Printlab

Aalto Printlab offers both Self-service and Fine Art Printing options. The Self-service printing serves as a research and learning environment for ARTS students and researchers, providing access to facilities, equipment, and technical support for coursework and artistic exploration. The Fine Art Printing focuses on high-quality prints of photographs and graphics on the best museum-quality materials.
